They say “beauty is pain” but does it have to be so damn expensive too?
Between food, phone bills, car payments, rent and whatever else is thrown at you – sometimes the $80.00 foundation just isn’t an option. Everyone is different and although it’s important to use products that work for you, sometimes it’s worth giving that $5.00 lipstick from the chemist a shot.
Here are some affordable beauty products that you might like to give a try!
Warpaint Teeth Whitener
There is a whole range of teeth whitening products on the market at the moment and it’s hard to know which ones actually work. You may have tried a number of toothpastes or strips but didn’t get the results you’d hoped for.
If you’re looking for a natural, reasonably priced and cruelty-free way to get those pearly whites looking their best, Warpaint is a great option. Compared to other teeth whitening products, Warpaint is super easy to use and it won’t break the bank.
Basically you just dip the tip of a clean, wet toothbrush into the powder and brush your teeth for two minutes. You can use it as often as you like and even mix it with your regular toothpaste if you prefer a bit of a minty taste (the Warpaint powder is flavourless).
Although it can get a little messy, it’s very much worth it. Results will vary from person to person but you may see a change after just a few uses.
Wake Me Up mascara by Rimmel London
It can be so hard to find a nice everyday mascara that ticks all the boxes and you know, won’t give an allergic reaction – yes it’s happened! The Wake Me Up mascara by Rimmel London not only makes your lashes pop but also contains vitamins that helps to condition them.
The name ‘Wake Me Up’ is quite fitting because it really opens up your eyes and gives you a nice fresh look. The unusual shaped brush, makes application a breeze, with no clumps and a refreshing cucumber scent to boot! Like most mascaras, it lengthens and volumises but it also lifts your lashes, which is welcomed on those mornings when you’re feeling a little zombie-like.
Available from $18.95 AUD in most supermarkets and chemists.
Maybelline FIT Me Foundation
This one isn’t exactly a hidden gem but for those who are after a natural, everyday look, Maybelline FIT me liquid foundation is a go-to! Although it isn’t full coverage, it leaves your skin looking and feeling smooth and fresh.
The lightweight texture of the foundation makes application easy and comfortable to wear all day long, without your skin feeling all clogged up.
This product also caters for different skin types, with options for normal to dry skin and normal to oily skin, plus it contains SPF 18, to help protect your skin!
Available from 19.95 AUD in most supermarkets and chemists.
Lingerie Liquid Lipstick by NYX
Everyone loves a good nude lip, so of course, NYX cosmetics came out with the Lingerie liquid lipstick line. There are 12 lovely neutrals to choose from, ranging from deep browns to light pinks. The lipsticks pictured below are Exotic and Ruffle Trim, which are both gorgeous pinky brown colours.
This lipstick has a beautiful matte finish and lasts for hours without needing a touch up. Although like most other matte liquid lipsticks, it can dry out your lips a little, so be sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips before application!
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
It’s 1.00am after a big night out and the last thing you want to do is to spend 10 minutes removing a face full of makeup – we’ve all been there. But waking up in the morning with a stained pillow and panda eyes, isn’t exactly ideal either.
It’s so important to remove your makeup before bed not only for hygiene reasons but also to give your skin a much needed break. Makeup wipes may be convenient but they can often leave your skin feeling dry. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is a great way to remove your makeup and soothe your skin at the same time! It gently removes all types of make-up including foundation, eye makeup and lipstick.
It’s perfect for those who can get a little lazy with their evening skin care routine because once you remove all your makeup, there’s no further cleaning or rinsing required. It’s a nice way to feel fresh before getting some shut-eye.
Available from $13.99 AUD in most supermarkets and chemists.
