We all love a good pamper session but between face masks, teeth whiteners, hair treatments and everything else – pampering comes at a cost. The good news is, you don’t always have to spend big, to get a good result. Sometimes everything you need is right in your pantry!
The idea of rubbing coffee grounds onto your skin might seem a little odd but as it turns out, it’s a great natural way to keep your skin looking (and feeling) amazing! Coffee scrubs are not only great for exfoliating but they also help with anti-inflammation and improving circulation.
You will need:
1/2 cup coffee grounds (Freshly ground, excess or store bought)
1/4 cup coconut oil
2 tbs brown sugar
Optional: 1tbs of cocoa powder or 1 tbs of orange zest
To make: Mix the coffee grounds, coconut oil and brown sugar together in small bowl until you have a moist but crunchy consistency. Add more of the dry ingredients if you find that your scrub is too watery. If you want more of a mocha or citrus scent, add a small amount of cocoa powder or orange zest to the mixture.
To use: Massage the scrub across your skin in a circular motion, on any area of your body – including your face. Rinse off thoroughly.
As previously, mentioned in the lip care blog post exfoliating is a part of every good lip care routine. It helps remove dead skin and smooths and softens your lips. If you’re after a scrub that you can happily lick off your lips – look no further!
You will need:
1 tbs of brown sugar
1/2 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp honey
To make: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, olive oil and honey together, until combined. The scrub should have a gritty consistency, with a little moisture. This recipe will only make a small amount of lip scrub but it lasts for a long time.
To use: Place a small amount of scrub on your finger and rub it all over the lip area. After you wash (or lick) off the excess scrub, apply some lip balm to add some moisture back into your lips.
Let’s face it – we put our hair through a lot! After a while, all the straightening, blow-drying and colouring takes its toll on your lovely locks. That’s why, every once in a while, it’s important to take some time out to repair any damage. Coconut oil not only moisturises and softens your hair but also prevents hair breakage and promotes hair growth!
What you need:
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 tbs honey
To make: Place coconut oil and honey in a bowl and mix until combined.
To use: Apply desired amount of treatment to hair (depending on damage, length etc.) and comb through to reach every strand. Try not to apply directly to the scalp area if you have quite oily hair naturally.
Use cling wrap or a shower cap to cover your hair and leave in for around an hour, allowing the treatment to soak in. When you’re ready, give your hair a good wash and rinse the treatment out thoroughly.
These homemade pamper products make a great gift for friends and family for any occasion or just because. The best part is you can package and personalise the products however you like. They’re really thoughtful gifts that won’t break the bank!
